Synopsis

Contemporary Thinking investigates the life and work of important intellectuals from the Brazilian southern state of Rio Grande do Sul. Interviews, archive footage and documental scenes are articulated in a way to evoke a relevant intellectual and human track. Although the emphasis relies on the fields of philosophy, literature and psychology, the documentaries end up encompassing the realm of other subjects

CONTEMPORARY THINKING IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL is a series of documentaries featuring the life and work of important intellectuals from the state of Rio Grande do Sul, in southern Brazil. Interviews, archive footage and documental scenes arearticulated in a way to evoke a relevant intellectual and human track. Four intellectuals participate in the documentary series: Carlos Cirne Lima, Alfredo Jerusalinsky, FlávioLoureiro Chaves and DonaldoSchüler. Although the emphasis is on the fields of philosophy, literature and psychology, the documentaries end up encompassing the realm of other subjects. The method used in the interviews employs some keywords with the purpose of provoking a certain process of memory and reflection. The series does the important job of historical research and presents the many facts of the life and work of great masters who marked generations of students and readers. This is the thrust of the series CONTEMPORARY THINKING IN RIO GRANDE DO SUL.
